CHIANG MAI GOLF SERVICE TOUR

 |
| Golf is one of the most popular sports in Thailand. The game arrived in the county a century ago and was quickly taken up by the elite and the fashionable. Among the first sponsors of the game were the armed forces and government institutions, which built and continue to own some of the finest courses in the county. There are over 200 high standard golf courses nationwide, many of them championship standards. The world’s top designers have made a significant contribution. Jack Nicklaus, Roboert Trent Jones Jr, Pete De Gar Player and many others have perfected modern layouts, using the best grasses and latest techniques. The best time to plan a golfing trip is the cool season, from November to March. From April to October it is hot and wet, but even in the rainy months the downfall usually comes in the afternoon, and for only a few minutes. Most courses have good drainage systems, and the rains should not interrupt your game for long. At some facilities you may need to book ahead, through your club or your hotel, and advance booking is recommended for weekends. Greens fees continue to be very reasonable, as are the fees for caddies. |

Chiang Mai Royal Golf Resort
Located 30 minutes pleasant drive from Chiangmai.
The resort is set among wooded hills by cool placid mountain streams. It is the place for the whole family for recreation and relaxation
Course Description
The 18 hole, par 72, Peter Thomson designed links style course opened in February 1996. The par 4, 4th ( Hcp 1) is an absolute brute of a hole, playing at 440 yards from the back tees and uphill all the way. Not a hole for the faint hearted. This hole is an exception as the key to scoring well, points more towards accuracy than length. More so, considering there is 94 well-placed bunkers to catch any stray shots. You will find many streams and lakes throughout the 18 holes but not all are in play. The course offers all levels of golfers an enjoyable round with a chance to score well.
Many of the holes are set with beautiful mountain backdrops, so if your game goes to the pack at least the course and its backdrops will be pleasing to the eye.
All Tees, Fairways and Roughs are grassed with 419 Bermuda grass and Greens with imported Tiff Dwarf Bermuda grass.
A practice putting and chipping green, as well as a driving range are available for you to fine tune your skills before attacking the course.

Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Club
The Chiang Mai Highlands Golf Club opened only in 2005 and adds to the range of Chiang Mai’s golf courses. The drive to the course from Chiang Mai city leads through exceptionally beautiful landscape, in eastern direction along extensive rice fields into the mountains.
The Chiang Mai Highlands golf course is built on a ‘power spot’ – the hermitage of Kuba Sivichai (the revered monk who founded the famous temple on Doi Suthep). This very special site is breathtaking in every direction and literally tingles with an energetic aliveness. Its profound tranquility, high elevation, cool climate, fresh air, pure water, and fertile soil, form the perfect place to sculpt a living golf treasure.
Chiang Mai Highlands was designed by Schmidt-Curley, the same team responsible for the redesign of Muang Kaew Golf Course in Bangkok and many of Asia’s exciting new courses. The course itself is set in the hills outside Chiang Mai, giving golfers the distraction of magnificent views on every hole. The golf course is exciting and challenging for a player of any level and offers the choice of 5 different tee boxes. As golfers tee-off from the first tee and stroll along lush Paspalum grass fairways, a sense of golfing adventure starts. They are surrounded by magnificent views of the entire course and the mountain skyline in the background, there are over 100 fairway and greenside bunkers. From the inviting downhill 1st hole, the golf course effortlessly flows along, gaining strength, beauty, and character with each passing hole until its thrilling, dramatic finish on the unforgettable 18th.
The large and undulating greens are not easy to play, especially since they are protected by several bunkers. Bunkers and water hazards provide the distinctive note of this course and require a strategic game.
A nice clubhouse with pleasant atmosphere and all facilities provides relaxation before or after the golf round. Chiangmai Highlands has a superbly maintained practice facility including several practice greens, a short game area and a superb 300 yard driving range with a grass tee.
Chiangmai Highlands Golf & Spa Resort was voted #3 for "Best New Course in Asia" by Asian Golf Monthly in 2007. Chiangmai Highlands is one of the best among new breed golf courses in Thailand, and a must play as part of all Chiang Mai golf holidays.

Mae Jo Golf Club Chiang Mai
an 18 hole par 72 Championship golf course almost in the middle of Chiang Mai Town.
Situated right behind Mae Jo University, the oldest agricultural college in Chiang Mai, the course is less than 30 kilometers or only 20 minutes drive mostly along the divided highways from the airport.
The course features rolling zoysia grass fairways and large challenging Korea Velvet greens with beautiful views of Doi Suthep and other surrounding mountain ranges. With thousands of matured Longan, Lychee, Mango, Pomello, and Tangerine trees alongside its fairways, the golf course looks and plays more like a well-matured course rather than a newly constructed one.
The course also features several elevated tees not only to allow golfers to enjoy the panoramic views of the course, the fruit orchard and the surrounding mountain ranges but also to make plays on the holes more interesting and challenging.
From the yellow tees, low handicappers will play the course 6,537 yards long while higher handicappers can play from white tees with the course being 6,199 yards long. Ladies or senior golfers may play the course at 5,511 yards from the red tees.

Summit Green Valley Chiang Mai
Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club is an excellent, championship caliber 18-hole golf course that is beautifully landscaped and well maintained. It features an abundance of well placed sand bunkers and lots of water that can come into play on nearly every hole on the course. The fairways are ample and mostly level. The greens are large, receptive to approach shots, and putting speed is moderate to slightly fast. However, course length, numerous elevation changes, and prevailing wind makes Summit Green Valley Chiangmai Country Club a tough but fair challenge to golfers of all skill levels. The course drains exceptionally well during the wet season and benefits from the nearly constant "good air" breeze of the Mae Rim area. The beautiful clubhouse provides full features and service: a polite & professional staff, well-stocked Pro Shop, dining & refreshment areas, locker room facilities, and luxurious health spa services.
